All in all a very nice game and an interesting game experience with extensive touchpad use. Recommendation for all Pokémon fans

LaTeX Memory Size Problem

Today I encountered a strange LaTeX problem:

! TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [main memory size=1000000].

Using Fink on Mac Os X, you can find the texmf.cnf file in the /sw/share/texmf/web2c directory and change its memory size entry. To let LaTeX dump the new setting into its system, you’ll also need to call fmtutil --all. After that, the new memory size property is active.

First Mac Darkscreen

It just happened! Yeah! After using Mac for quite some time now, on my new MacBook Pro (with an Intel processor) I experienced the first darkscreen! Last.fm Journal Entry
On January 6th, 2007, I’ve installed my new MBP and took the chance to set up a new purely iTunes-based music library. Not only the decision, to use iTunes for central music management, was new but I also changed the primary artist name formatting into the more common format » , « instead of the previous formatting », [/]«, although I still think the old format is more convenient and logic.
Since I did encode all my music in Ogg Vorbis, which I still think is the best audio format available, and for iTunes and iPod sync I converted those Ogg files to Mpeg3, I now decided to primarily use AAC encoded audio. As a result I’m currently having a nice time ripping my CD collection again

Why Animexx Suxx

It`s a long time ago I regularily visited Animexx. It has been somewhat annoying to me, so I started my own community project and so forth. I just returned today to have a look (and to prevent my account being disabled), and the website is not only annoying, but became a large collection of flashing and inlay-popping advertisement banners (see attached screenshot). Great, isn`t it? Oh, and I forgot to mention. It also opened advertised sites in the background. Really good job, Animexx. I know for myself how hard it is to manage projects and collect money for them, so bills can get paid. But putting three annoying ads on the website and opening a fourth in the background really is the wrong way. Flash and animated ads are the worst the web ever produced. Everyone who at least thinks a little bit about there users would prevent using those type of ads (if neccessary at all). The textual ads Google uses are much less annoying.

Domain Structure

About three weeks ago I reorganized my domain and subdomain structure. The main difference on the user side is, that subdomains were moved to subdirectories. This means, every subdomain e.g. http://blog.koushirou.de/ has become obsolete and the content moved to a subdirectory of the domain, e.g. http://koushirou.de/blog/.

Please update your favourites and links (if there are any xD); the subdomains still work, but won`t last forever

4400: Die Rückkehrer

Gestern und heute Abend habe ich den Pilotfilm und die ersten vier Folgen der neuen Serie »4400: Die Rückkehrer« gesehen… IMO sehr gut gemacht, für jeden der Dinge im Stil wie Akte X etc. mag ist auch diese Serie eine empfohlen anzusehen Natürlich auch direkt wieder einen Lieblingscharakter gewonnen, Shawn Farrell (rechts) hihi…

Von der Story her geht es um eine Gruppe Menschen, deren Anzahl genau 4400 beträgt, die im Laufe der Zeit verschwanden und plötzlich an einem Tag an einem Ort gemeinsam wieder auftauchten… und diese sich ein klein wenig verändert haben…

Die letzten Tage hatte ich ab und an Gelegenheit, die zwölf Folgen der Anime-Serie げんしけん (Genshiken) zu sehen… es handelt sich dabei um eine Serie, die ein paar Einblicke in das Alltagsleben der japanischen Otaku bietet. Abgesehen von den amüsanten Seiten der Serie, sind die Charaktere gut dargestellt und man erfährt einiges; auch diejenigen, welche sich mit der ein oder anderen Thematik besser auskennen, kommen nicht zu kurz, da dann erst manche Passagen verständlich werden, wenn sich die Otaku in eine Sache reinsteigern und (für den Outsider) wenig(er) verständliche Dinge erzählen xD Empfehlung, zu sehen!

Mac BT Fax

Heute kam ich mal auf den Tripp, ein mobiles Fax einzurichten. Allgemein überhaupt mal das Handy wieder per BT dem Rechner bekannt zu machen xD

Wer sich schon mal gefragt hatte, wie man denn ein BT-Fax auf dem Mac einrichten kann - denn der Support dafür existiert -, findet hier eine kurze Anleitung:
In den »Systemeinstellungen« die Option »Drucken & Faxen« wählen, bei den Druckern einen neuen hinzufügen (auf das »+«-Symbol klicken). Nachdem der Dialog ein wenig Rechenzeit genoßen hat, mit gedrückter ALT-Taste auf »Weitere Drucker…« klicken und im Folgedialog auf die durch das Drücken der ALT-Taste sichtbar gemachte Auswahloption »Weitere Optionen« wählen. Nun kann man in der Geräteliste ein Bluetooth-Modem wählen, die Geräte-URI sollte

fax://dev/cu.Bluetooth-Modem

entsprechen. Der Treiber ist unter »Andere…« als Datei zu wählen, und zwar folgende:

/System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/ → Frameworks/PrintCore.framework/Resources/ → German.lproj/Fax.ppd .

Fertig! Das Bluetooth-Fax ist eingerichtet! Natürlich kann man statt »German.lproj« auch eine andere Sprache wählen. Ebenfalls sollte auch ein BT-Gerät installiert sein

Wer wie ich gerne Safari nutzt, aber auch in den Genuß von Werbeblockern auf CSS-Basis, wie beispielsweise bei FireFox, kommen möchte, hat bereits mit Safari an sich alle Mittel an Board. Denn es funktioniert der gleiche Blocker, wie beispielsweise beim FireFox: In den Einstellungen, unter »Erweitert«, läßt sich ein StyleSheet angeben- und ein passendes StyleSheet gewählt, ist der Werbeblocker (auch ohne Neustart von Safari) aktiv! Einen guten und aktuell gehaltenen Werbeblocker (userContent.css) findet ihr auf:

Ich bin heute auf einen interessanten Telnet-Server gekommen, welcher eine ASCII-Version von Star Wars, Episode IV, sendet. Da hat jemand seeeehr viel Zeit gehabt =)

Zum Angucken unter Mac OS / Linux / Windows in ein Terminal (bzw. Eingabeaufforderung) gehen, und folgenden Befehl eingeben:

~ $> telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl

Telnet sollte auf jedem Rechner installiert sein; ist dies nicht der Fall, am einfachsten danach mit Google suchen.
